House Work

Mar 31st 2008

So most of all day Saturday was spent working on the new sink.  I’ve never done anything like this before and after watching my friend Jason help get the old sink out I thought it wouldnt be that bad to attach the new one.  Well, I was sorta wrong!  After three trips to Home Depot, numerous variations on plumbing, and a borderline pyschosis I made it through - with a shiny new sink apparatus.  Now onto the the bathroom sink!  I cant wait!

Posts and Updates

Mar 20th 2008

Ok, so I promise to pick it up with some new pics on the blog.  In the meantime I wanna move your attention to some other favorite sites of mine.  Just recently I found out about director Tarsem Singh’s new production finally about to make it’s theatrical release… The Fall. My gosh, this thing looks cool! And beautiful!

In climbing related news the fellas over at Bigupblog.com finally updated with alot of new news on their recent productions from Flagstaff to Yosemite Valley.  Many a cool blog entries!

Lastly, is a minor update on my favorite band The Black Keys.  They changed their front page and added a new track on Itunes.  Their new album drops on April 1 and like any good music fiend I’ll probably be one of the first to download and have it playing repeatedly in my car.  I would like to stress “repeatedly” :-)

Getting Creative

Mar 19th 2008

One thing I’ve been wanting to post on is some of the things that get’s me “creatively going”.  What I mean are some of the artists who’s web sites I enjoy spending some quality time on.  Of late, this photog out in California by the name of Anna Kuperberg just consistently rocks out some amazing images.  In my mind alot of photographers get rather crazy with their post processing and really push their images to extremes.  Anna really takes a step back and lets the emotion and the playfulness of her subjects shine.  Locally, here in the Austin, TX area, is this cat by the name of Jake Holt.  Another portrait & wedding photog but someone who I can tell has a great rapport with his subjects.  Again, someone who I can tell doesnt get crazy with post processing and just knocks out beautiful images.  A international photog whose web site I came across a few years ago is Maciej Dakowicz.  “A photographer based in the UK”  this guy is the reason I eventually moved over to the Canon 5D.  Maciej finds the beauty in some of the poorest places in the world, to say that his images are striking is a great understatement, the’re unwieldly amazing.

Hope some of you guys who frequent this site find a little time and check out some of these other photogs.  I’m sure you wont be disappointed.

Sick, Sick, and still Sick

Mar 12th 2008

Here I am, Wednesday, March 12th and still sick.  I finally submitted to the illness and decided to see the doctor yesterday.  Sure enough I have an ear infection that doesnt seem to want to subside.  All I want to do is enjoy some of this stellar weather.  Instead I stayed in and watched 30 Days of Night on DVD last night.  I have to admit it was pretty good.. A little gruesome but very watchable.  On better news my wife is making leaps and bounds in the small renovations we’ve been doing to the house.  On the agenda this week has been painting of the interior.  It’s pretty much all done and really impressive how different the house looks now.  I might have to share some pictures of the project coming together.  Next on the agenda: new carpet! OOOO!

Big Doggy

Mar 5th 2008

I’m still feeling under the weather and was just backing up stuff I’ve done over the last few months.. Here’s one I did not to long ago.  Just to let some of you people know, I’m in the planning stages of a all day portrait session thingy.  Details and information will follow.. Proceeds from that session are going to a good cause.  Also, if you really wanna keep up with all the new stuff shoot me a note asking me to put you on my mailing list.  I’ll share more things in detail in one of my bi-monthly newsletters and what not.  Cheers!

Another From Saturday

Mar 4th 2008

Another pic from this last saturday.  Another guy that was out at Reimers (Eric) made a really cool series of time lapse videos… Check it out here.  Just to cool!  I’m sitting here sick but contemplating going out for a walk.  I really dislike being like this when it’s so nice outside.. :-(
